The second big appointment of Higan 2008, which will be held in May, will pertain to some themes which have been discussed in the past years. The beauty, complexity and deepness of these themes require a constant updating and full examination. The themes are: nature’s aesthetics through bonsai and ikebana, shodoo calligraphy, tea ceremony, and haiku poetry.

The audience will be offered an explanation/ demonstration as well as some teaching appointments in order to comprehend and understand the cultural and philosophical basis of each of the arts introduced during the weekend.
 

Specifically for this reason and only for Higan, the following are coming from Japan: Master Kazuie Murayama from Omotesenke School, whom will explain the Chanoyu tea ceremony, and Master Emiko Murayama from Misho-Ryu school, whom will deal with ikebana.

For the first time in Italy, there will be set an exposition about azalea and rose bonsai, which bloom in spring.

For the first time, Higan will deal with literature thanks to haiku poetry. Haikus are short Japanese poems which evoke the images of a changeable nature through the seasons and describe the feelings aroused in the author.

Finally, there will be the energy of the Japanese drums called taiko which are going to enliven two of the evenings of Higan event; everything will enriched by an international exclusive workshop to learn to play taiko.
