Higan 2007 -
17th -18th March 2007 |
|
| |
 |
|
| |
The 2007 edition
of Higan was
honoured to host
the Japan
Consul General
in Italy, Mr.
Hiroshi Azuma,
during the first
weekend of the
event, March
16-18, 2007. The
Consul, together
with the
organizers of
the event,
wanted to see
every place of
Higan which he
personally
described as the
biggest event
about Japan in
Italy. |
|
| |
|
He was
amazed
by the
accuracy
with
which
Italian
experts
displayed
Japanese
culture
and
found
new
perspectives.
The
Consul
appreciated
the
“Casa
della
|

|
|
|
| |
Peonia
in
Fiore,”
which
was a
reconstruction
of a
traditional
Japanese
house.
At the
entrance
of the
Teatro
Congressi
there
was a
big
garden
called
karesansui
and the
Consul
asked
the
designer
Edoardo
Rossi to
show him
how to
rake it.
Afterwards
he
briefly
visited
the
workshop
of Pino
Pentaphylla,
saw
bonsai-growing
techniques
of
Master
Abe,
praised
the
sushi
cooked
by Chef
Mayumi
Sunagawa
and
showed
up in
the hall
where a
Go
tournament
was set.
In the
evening
of March
17th he
also
attended
the
Fujito
Opera
performance,
which
was the
main
purpose
of his
visit to
Higan
2007.
The
Consul
was in
fact a
schoolmate
of
Master
Onoe
Kazuhiko,
the
composer
and
director
of the
Opera;
nowadays
the
Consul
truly
appreciates
the work
of his
ex-schoolmate.
Apart
from
Higan
2007,
the
Consul
had the
chance
to relax
and
enjoy
the
Abano
Thermae
as well.
As a
Japanese
man, he
didn’t
want to
miss the
chance
to relax
among
baths
and
Thermal
treatments. |
