Mieko Miyazaki, internationally known artist and composer, had the honour to perform for the Japanese Emperor and Empress while still a student, a confirmation of her innate talent for music;
she is currently considered one of the most innovative Japanese artists.
A koto player, she performs all kinds of music, deeply rooted in her very personal technique and her Japanese spirit.
Koto is a traditional Japanese folk instrument which arrived from China in the Eighth Century.
The instrument was originally used for court music. Thereafter, it came to be played by Buddhist monks, and eventually, reached the general populous.
